Saul David Raye has been a student and teacher of yoga, mysticism and the healing arts for over 25 years. His heart-centered approach draws on Hatha Yoga, Bhakti, Tantra, Thai Massage, Pranic Healing, Shamanism and music. It has influenced many students and teachers around the world. He aims to bring ancient wisdom teachings alive for modern seekers and to create a safe space where people can connect with their own authentic power, spirit and truth.
He teaches through Atma Yoga and Ritam Healing Arts. His work blends breath-centered yoga, chanting and kirtan, mantra, meditation, breathwork and ceremony. Students describe his teaching as intuitive and focused on how a practice is embodied rather than on perfecting a posture. Bhakti, the path of devotion, has long been central to his teaching. His retreats have included immersions in kirtan, mantra and Ayurveda, where participants learn to lead chants and play instruments such as harmonium, guitar, drums and kartals.
Retreats are a steady part of his year. He leads or co-leads gatherings each season, including an annual summer solstice retreat in Yelapa, Mexico, and an annual winter retreat on a beach in Baja. Sunrise meditation and chanting, yoga, music, dancing and time in nature shape these weeks. He also teaches in other cities and has co-taught with other teachers, including Vedic scholar Jeffrey Armstrong. Chant musicians such as Joss Jaffe, Brenda McMorrow and Prem Vidu have joined him as guests.
He also teaches online most weeks for a community on a sliding scale, with a free membership option. He offers one-on-one life coaching sessions by phone or video, and has released music including Jewel in the Lotus, Praying for Love and Promised Land. He closes his messages with the wish for health, peace and prosperity.
Worth Knowing
Saul David Raye is a yoga teacher, kirtan artist, and healing facilitator who has spent over 25 years studying and teaching yoga, mysticism, and the healing arts across multiple traditions. His work draws from Hatha Yoga, Bhakti devotion, Tantra, Thai Massage, Pranic Healing, and Shamanism—a deliberately eclectic blend that sets him apart in a yoga world often fragmented into single lineages. What attracts students and teachers to his practice is his insistence on embodied, heart-centered learning: less about achieving perfect alignment in a posture, more about connecting to authentic power and spirit within yourself. He teaches that ancient wisdom can be alive and relevant to modern seekers, offered through breath, chanting, meditation, and ceremony conducted in both group and intimate settings. His influence has rippled through students and teachers worldwide, and his recent music releases—particularly Praying for Love, Promised Land, and the 2024 single Jewel in the Lotus (Nepal Song)—show a musician translating his teaching into sound.
